My Earth name is Elizabeth. I am a 30-something American living overseas in southern France with my saint of a husband, the extraordinary developer and inventor, Medi. I have a passion for the musical, the musically obscure, and the musically obnoxious. I’ve also been told that occasionally, my writing isn’t horrible.
When I’m not bitching about the latest trash music nobody is listening to, I dabble in the culinary arts, crochet, and amateur cat-wrangling. I also enjoy old and obscure media… the deep cuts that people have forgotten. On occasion, you may also find me ruining the lives of my Sims or taking pictures of the local scenery.
My favorite artists, in no particular order, are as follows: Paramore, Green Day, Mitski, Fall Out Boy, Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Boston Manor, Chelsea Wolfe, Jimmy Eat World, Beach Bunny, A Day to Remember, Motion City Soundtrack, Billie Eilish, Oliver Tree, Teagan and Sara, The Decemberists, The Shins, Amy Winehouse, Yellowcard, Talking Heads/David Byrne, St. Vincent, Phoenix, Grouplove, The White Stripes, Fiona Apple, Panic! At the Disco, The Pixies, Weezer, Pierce the Veil, Phantogram, No Doubt, The Mountain Goats, Emma Ruth Rundle, Nothing But Thieves, Mutemath, Hayley Williams, The Linda Lindas, Slothrust, Kid Cudi, Sinead O’Connor, Michelle Branch, Ariana Grande, Crystal Castles, bbno$, Muse, Harry Styles, Twenty One Pilots, Aly & AJ, Kesha, Madison Beer, Liv del Estal, Meg & Dia, The Regrettes, Bikini Kill, Metric, Santigold, Robyn, Rihanna, Lykke Li, Hozier, The B-52s, Nina Simone, Blondie, Missy Elliott, Eve, The Format, Doja Cat, All Time Low, Millionaires, and so, so many more.
I’m sure many of you will look at this list and be like, “God, how basic”. And that’s fair. But I do actually love listening to a lot of artists, from rap to hip hop to electronic/EDM to pop to indie to pop-punk to screamo and everywhere in between. The only music genre I’m not terribly comfortable writing about is country, mostly because I just don’t really care for it overall. I still do enjoy some country artists and country songs from time to time but it’s not in my daily rotation for the most part.
I’m going to strive to be brutally honest but also forgiving and kind where songs/albums merit it. My opinion, after all, is virtually meaningless. I’m just some pixels on a screen. I have absolutely no qualifications to be writing about any of this, but I’m doing it anyway. I guess that’s part of being online though… unwarranted self-importance and a need to be seen. Anyway, that’s about it for me, see ya.
